Aim
Despite ageism being one of the most widespread forms of discrimination, there is limited caselaw prompting legal and social change for equal treatment in old age. Most older people’s organisations have not yet used the potential of strategic litigation, thus missing an important opportunity to defend and promote human rights in old age.
We will make strategic litigation against age discrimination visible at European level.
The project aims to empower older people’s and civil society organizations to use strategic litigation for age equality while mobilizing groups to better protect human rights.
By increasing the visibility of age discrimination in courts and media, these efforts represent an innovative step toward reducing intersectional inequalities across Europe.

StratAGEic intends to develop capacity for strategic litigation among civil society organisations (CSOs) representing and working with older persons. The project involves top-down training , peer learning and tailored mentoring tapping on the unique strengths of partners, and wide communication and dissemination.

We will equip national CSOs with the necessary skills, knowledge, tools & networks to pursue strategic litigation.
We will empower CSOs by providing the specialized expertise and practical toolkits needed to transition from traditional advocacy to active courtroom engagement.
By facilitating partnerships between grassroots organizations and professionals, we ensure they have the resources and networks to launch high-impact litigation that secures age equality and sets lasting judicial precedents.
